Trigg Beach Family Photo Shoot (March 2014)

By now we were already half way through our 10 day Perth trip however today would be a day that I had started planning for, for more than 3 months ago. We were going for an outdoor family photoshoot at Trigg Beach!

We did a studio photo shoot in Singapore when Jah turned 11 months and since Bella would be 10 months on this trip, I figured why not have a family photo shoot done then. Firstly, we would have an endless choice of awesome scenery and fantastic natural backdrops. Secondly, we wouldn’t have to endure the hot and humid Singapore weather just to get something outside the studio. And so I started searching for a Perth family photographer, ploying through tons of photographer portfolios and packages to see what would suit us. It wasn’t easy given that we only required hi-res soft copies to bring home with us and most packages came with albums and large prints etc.  We finally found Rachael Turner photography! We loved her portfolio and she was also accommodating and understood our need to only have hi-res soft copies.  We communicated back and forth via email to narrow down the photo shoot location. Her portfolio didn’t make it easy for me to come to a decision, in fact I changed my mind at the last minute when I saw one of her works at Trigg Beach. She also gave us advice on what colours we should/ shouldn’t wear based on our skin tones etc. Continue reading

Penguin Island – Perth (March 2014)

This was one of our favourite days of the trip! Jah was so amazed by his time at what he calls “Happy Feet” Island that he talked non-stop about it in the coming days and even when we were back in Singapore.

Penguin Island is just a 5 minutes ferry ride from the ‘mainland’. Tickets can be purchased at Rockingham Wild Encouters and you could spend your time at their adjoining Pengos café while waiting for your ferry which departs hourly. Tip – You could also takeaway some fries and snacks from the café to occupy the kids on the ferry or to eat on the island. Do note that there are no F&B outlets/ kiosks on the island. Jah was very excited that he was going to get to ride a boat to visit Happy Feet at his house. :p

Family Bike Rides Begin with Yepp

Going for bike rides used to be Joel and Jah’s thing to do on Sunday morning..the boys morning out. It used to be especially helpful when I was pregnant with Bella and needed a slow start to the morning. We fitted Joel’s bicycle with a Yepp Mini, essentially a child bike seat which would carry up to 15 kg. It was a really cool child bike seat for 9 months to about 3 years old which was shock resistant and made of a water resistant material similar to Crocs shoes.

Swan Valley and the Caversham Wildlife Park – Perth (March 2014)

Joel and I have been to Swan Valley numerous times before (mainly for food and wine) but we never thought to explore Whiteman Park! While doing our itinerary planning, I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit all the activities available there in one visit. In the end, I had to choose just the Swan Valley Caversham Wildlife Park and forgo the rest. Continue reading

DC Comics Superheroes Singapore Cable Car

We have been wanting to go for the DC Comics Superheroes Cable Car ride for some time now. Ok I’ll admit, Jah and I have been wanting to go for some time and Joel on the other hand has been hesistant. So given that it was Joel’s birthday, we had to make sure that he felt extra ‘special’ :p
