Lansdale Farm School – Perth (March 2014)

After an eventful morning, taking photos down at Triggs Beach. We had to take a breather and satisfy our rumbling tummies. We decided to hop into the café/ restaurant which was conveniently located by the beach, it also happened to be a branch of our favourite Kaili’s Fish and Chips! The view from the restaurant was simply beautiful, with full glass panels and clear blue skies, any meal would be perfect!

Wonderful view!

Kids having a chat and a laugh..hmmm they look kinda burnt don’t they?

We were initially pretty skeptical about whether the kids would be able to last through another activity or pit stop after what we thought might be a strenuous morning. But the kids were in such good mood that we decided to proceed to our standby activity – Lansdale Farm School (15 minutes drive away from Triggs Beach). Continue reading

Penguin Island – Perth (March 2014)

This was one of our favourite days of the trip! Jah was so amazed by his time at what he calls “Happy Feet” Island that he talked non-stop about it in the coming days and even when we were back in Singapore.

Penguin Island is just a 5 minutes ferry ride from the ‘mainland’. Tickets can be purchased at Rockingham Wild Encouters and you could spend your time at their adjoining Pengos café while waiting for your ferry which departs hourly. Tip – You could also takeaway some fries and snacks from the café to occupy the kids on the ferry or to eat on the island. Do note that there are no F&B outlets/ kiosks on the island. Jah was very excited that he was going to get to ride a boat to visit Happy Feet at his house. :p

Family Bike Rides Begin with Yepp

Going for bike rides used to be Joel and Jah’s thing to do on Sunday morning..the boys morning out. It used to be especially helpful when I was pregnant with Bella and needed a slow start to the morning. We fitted Joel’s bicycle with a Yepp Mini, essentially a child bike seat which would carry up to 15 kg. It was a really cool child bike seat for 9 months to about 3 years old which was shock resistant and made of a water resistant material similar to Crocs shoes.

The Maze, Chinese Food and San Churros @ Northbridge – Perth (March 2014)

Our car ride to the Maze would be the longest drive of our entire trip and with not much to see on the roads as we approached our destination. So I was alittle worried as we were driving the last 20km towards the Maze. Was it going to be some backward, boring little place? Was there going to be anything good to keep the kids occupied? I was getting less and less confident about this attraction by the minute but boy was I wrong. Continue reading

Tips for your child’s first time at the movies

Yes we finally took the plunge just before Jah hit the “Big 3” :p and I guess largely owing to the fact that there was a suitable movie for his 1st time at the movies! So if you are wondering when to bring your little one for his/her first movie, I guess there is no right or wrong time (some mummies bring their little bubs in carrier while accompanying their older kid). But if we are talking about having your child enjoy the movie from the start to finish and being able to discuss movie plot with you after haha then I suppose 3 years old is the age for us and here are some tips on how we made it out ‘alive’ and really happy! (Jah told me after his movie that he wants to go watch another movie again soon 🙂 ) Continue reading
