Jah’s unwrapping presents post including the much-awaited giant egg!

Yes, this post will mainly feature videos because if a picture speaks a thousand words then these videos will tell you the whole story..the story of how a little 3 year old boy manages to blow out his own birthday candles and finally understands the joy of unwrapping presents. Also the excitement of seeing his own Giant egg that he literally could not find the words to express himself …:p

Before we get to the present part, heres a little clip of how Jah attempts to blow out his birthday candles

And now for the presents, first up, unwrapping his present from Aunty Charm and Uncle Yip, it was the longest gift unwrapping I ever witnessed and this was with help from his aunty…they wrap presents very securely nowadays it seems..

Next up, a present from Aunty Rans and Uncle Khai, to ride on the Transformer craze he is in..

And finally the moment we have all been waiting for!!!! The unveiling of the Giant Egg and sorry but the eventually peeling of the playdoh and the mini egg opening is alittle anti-climatic but I’m pretty sure it was fun for the kids 😉 so thats all that matters right?

Jah’s Birthday Weekend (School Celebration and Transformers 30th Anniversary Exhibition)

Wow! Jah had a whirlwind of a birthday weekend! At least it felt like that to Joel and I. And I don’t even know where and how to begin documenting his 3rd birthday weekend, with all the photos and videos that we took. I’m resigned to the fact that some of these blog posts may just have to contain photos/ videos only. So if anyone has any questions about any of the activities/ places/ gifts etc, please feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer…

To kick things off, we celebrated Jah’s birthday (2 days early) in school. With his ‘carefully selected’, ‘mind changed many times over’ – Marvel Avengers cake. See my earlier post on this to understand what I mean. Getting 20 kids to sit patiently around a table for cake was quite a feat so I’m sorry that I don’t have a close up of the cake. It was a 2kg Marvel Avengers cake from Bengawan Solo and it was pretty yummy. I’m guessing we managed to feed the rest of his school for tea-break that day. 🙂 The kids were also really excited about their goodie bags, especially the boys who were declaring to me who their favourite Cars character are.

Our journey before and into parenthood – Come what may

Celebrating Jah’s 3rd birthday and reflecting on the past few years (before we had him and our entry and journey into parenthood) has brought on so many memories. It also brought back memories of a very humbling and trying period in our lives when we were first told we couldn’t have kids and then went on to miscarrying them. Continue reading

Penang Holiday – Hard Rock Penang Facilities (Oct 2014)

Apart from impressing us with their rooms and service, Hard Rock Penang wowed us with their ultra child friendly facilities. The main draw of the hotel for families would be their awesome pool area. It’s almost as if the pool was made to cater to every segment of guests that Hard Rock Penang could possibly think of.

We have the pool with its waterplay area for the little ones and then the slides which were not too thrilling so that the little ones could go on it safely. It also catered to the tweens and the young at heart adults like myself who could ‘pretend’ to use it because my child wanted me to follow him. :p

We also have the pool area which was filled with a sandy bottom (I think this might be a Hard Rock feature) except in this case it is found near the area leading out to the real Batu Ferringhi Beach.

And last but not least we have the pool area where pool side rooms could access directly to and also certain pockets of deeper waters to discourage the younger kids and provide abit more peace for adults who want to lounge around.

Besides the pool, the Hard Rock Penang also has a very good kids club. While we didn’t get to try the kids club programme which included cooking and art classes. We enjoyed the toys and equipment within the kids club and it allowed us to distract Jah when we needed to pack to move rooms. In fact Jah was more than happy to be there and kept asking to go over. I was super surprised by this and he actually allowed me to leave him there for a little while when I had to go back and check up on the packing. Jah is ultra clingy to me and the fact that he could let me go and just hung out with the kids club facilitator, is testament to how comfortable and friendly the environment is.

All in all, a perfect hotel for families with kids who perhaps want to spend more time within a hotel than out. 🙂

Cant wait to go back and let the kids try the programmes and maybe indulge in some spa services ourselves 😉

Kings Park Lotterywest Family Park – Perth (March 2014)

We have been to Kings Park many times over the years but we never quite explored it from a parent/ child’s point of view until now. I have to say that it is an awesome place to spend the morning with the kids! We also intentionally planned our trip to Kings Park Lotterywest Family Park on a Tuesday morning, in hopes of avoiding any weekend family crowd.

We came prepared for a ‘picnic’ with picnic mats and sand toys. The food issue was settled at the Stickybeaks Café which was located within the Kings Park Lotterywest Family Park area. We ordered fries, muffins and pies (yum yum!) and set up shop on the grass. Come early and take your pick of any spot in the park!
