Penguin Island – Perth (March 2014)

This was one of our favourite days of the trip! Jah was so amazed by his time at what he calls “Happy Feet” Island that he talked non-stop about it in the coming days and even when we were back in Singapore.

Penguin Island is just a 5 minutes ferry ride from the ‘mainland’. Tickets can be purchased at Rockingham Wild Encouters and you could spend your time at their adjoining Pengos café while waiting for your ferry which departs hourly. Tip – You could also takeaway some fries and snacks from the café to occupy the kids on the ferry or to eat on the island. Do note that there are no F&B outlets/ kiosks on the island. Jah was very excited that he was going to get to ride a boat to visit Happy Feet at his house. :p

The Maze, Chinese Food and San Churros @ Northbridge – Perth (March 2014)

Our car ride to the Maze would be the longest drive of our entire trip and with not much to see on the roads as we approached our destination. So I was alittle worried as we were driving the last 20km towards the Maze. Was it going to be some backward, boring little place? Was there going to be anything good to keep the kids occupied? I was getting less and less confident about this attraction by the minute but boy was I wrong. Continue reading

Swan Valley and the Caversham Wildlife Park – Perth (March 2014)

Joel and I have been to Swan Valley numerous times before (mainly for food and wine) but we never thought to explore Whiteman Park! While doing our itinerary planning, I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit all the activities available there in one visit. In the end, I had to choose just the Swan Valley Caversham Wildlife Park and forgo the rest. Continue reading

Perth, Western Australia Itinerary – March 2014

We were very excited to finally embark on our longest flight yet (5 hours) with the kids (Jah at 2.5 years old and Bella at 10 months old). We were even more excited that it was a trip to Perth, the place where Joel and I spent most of our long distance dating years aside from his school breaks in Singapore. We were looking forward to revisiting some places (this time with 2 kids!) and to explore new places that we never considered visiting when we were dating. We had a jam packed 10 day holiday with almost a different activity planned for each day and even then we only ‘contained’ ourselves to within a 1 hour driving radius from our accommodation. So whoever said that Perth is boring, will have to talk to me again or well read our upcoming posts because I can tell you that we barely scratched the surface!
